Why Arsenal must sign a striker before the window closes

The outcome of last night's encounter with Aston Villa proved to be the only positive in a pretty stale performance from the gunners. I say it's a positive because on evidence many times in the past we have conceded a 1-0 defeat when we haven't played well. At least we got a point out of it.

We all knew how difficult the task was going to be with Villa, United, Chelsea and Liverpool all waiting in the wings, and with one down, we're still heavily in the race, so let's be positive.

I still believe it's imperitive we sign an out and out striker, and soon. We lacked spark once again in the final third with no one really looking to get in behind Villa's defence and test their ageing legs for pace often enough. Arshavin and Fabregas efforts being the only exceptions.

I believe Bendtner will come good eventually given games up front but yesterday he was extremely rusty and understandably so. He had a chance to have a crack with his left with the ball sitting up perfectly but instead chose to dwell on the ball. He also needs to learn to keep a move flowing, often a quick attack would break down at his feet when he should release the ball to his team mate earlier, instead choosing to take everyone on by himself.

With Eduardo's constant setbacks too, we are seriously lacking upfront. I fear Wenger will gamble and not sign cover, and it could be the difference between us having more games like this, or winning. In other words, winning the title or finishing 2nd or 3rd.

A direct, strong striker who isn't afraid to shoot when in good positions should be the priority, and I genuinly believe Ryan Babel is the best option. Wenger would give him the confidence he needs to perform. An £8m bid should do it.

On a defensive note, well done to Campbell for staying strong at the back after a lengthy spell out of the game. However the news that Vermaelen is OK is massive and I would be a liar if I said I'm not worried about Rooney coming up against Sol, so fingers crossed Thomas makes it for what is a game Arsenal simply have to win.

Media response to Adebayor interview a disgrace

Emmanuel Adebayor, just a few short days after seeing his own death flash before his very eyes, being shot at, seeing his own team mates injured and members of the travelling party dead, gave an interview in Togo to try and put his sentiments on the matter into words.

Naturally, it was difficult, and a clearly very shaken an emotional Adebayor found it hard to speak on the subject live on air. With all that being said, all anyone seems to be giving a sh*t about is the fact he was wearing an Arsenal training t-shirt!

It's an absolute disgrace, many respected publications have chosen to circle their focus around his apparel rather than the interview itself. The fact he was in Togo to mourn the deaths of who died went over most people's heads.

Blogs, newspapers, you name it have gone crazy over the matter. Think for a second. Adebayor comes from Togo and his parents are Nigerian, and in those countries who are the most prevalently supported club? Arsenal!

The African nations are Arsenal mad and love the club, Adebayor has already said this, so why is it strange he wear an Arsenal shirt with an open mind in a country where that club is loved? Why is it weird to some people that Adebayor himself was a fan the club before he arrived in England and why should he stop being a fan just because he came and left, regardless of indifference's with the fans.

It's simply closed mindedness and eagerness to make headlines at ANY cost, rather than taking a second to look at the bigger picture.
